Use cake mix with bread making machine?
May 31st
I would like to bake a German chocolate cake with a Duncan Hines mix.
I own a Cuisinart bread maker model cbk 200. The package asks for oil, water and eggs only.
However on the bread maker recipe booklet, it requires milk, sour cream and other stuff.
Which advice is better to follow, the machine or the package?
Thanks for your experience!

I used to bake a bunch of mini loaves of banana bread, date nut bread, pumpkin bread and russian tea cakes, toll house cookies, peanut butter cookies, it all was so much fun to give to neighbors and friends on holiday time. Now I just let my daughter in law do all that. I still get to smell the goodies baking.
I am just amazed that none of you want to share what kind of cakes and desserts you will make.
Are you all asleep?

When making banana bread, replacing it with Apples, would it still taste good? Meaning..?
Apr 20th
I am thinking of making apple bread (I had it earlier at a christmas party, thought I make it on my own), but I’m thinking of using a banana bread recipe. My question is … I would be using all the ingredients needed to make a banana bread but instead replace the banana’s with apples. Would this come out good? How many apples should I use (i’m using a small pan that is used to make a 1/2 a loaf)?
First time making sourdough starter, am i on the right path?
Apr 20th
Hello, I’ve decided to start baking bread at home and the first thing I made was a starter. I found a recipe online and i mixed the amounts of water and flour, formed a ball and put it in warm corner. After two days I removed the crust and fed the starter double of the original amount when it was first made. It grew pretty quickly! Today is day 4 that is has been going and im supposed to add a cup of flour and leave it in its warm corner again. When I looked at it, its super bubbly and smells terrible! I’m hoping it’s just the sourdough coming through and not that it went rancid. After I add one cup of flour im the recipe says to leave out for one more day then it will be ready to use for bread! I’ve worked with many starters before but never made one from scratch. Is this the right process? Is the starter supposed to smell that bad and have that many bubbles? Thank you for any help!
