How long does a typical bread machine last?
Aug 29th
Mine stopped working right a few months ago, it was about three years old. It took me a few failed breads before I knew it was the machine, I thought maybe I wasn’t doing the recipes right (my recipes come from Momma, and her writing is so confusing to read that it’s easy for me to make a major mistake), maybe my yeast was bad and on and on. But I bought a new one yesterday and oh man I had the best french bread, all piping hot with steam coming out! How long should it last considering a I use it a lot.
Anyone have a good simple recipe for making bread..white bread or wheat..no machine…?

I’m hungry. Should I make a focaccia bread in my bread machine?
Aug 29th
It’s 11:10 PM where I am. I’m kind of hungry and really want a focaccia bread. I don’t have anything to do tommorow, and I’m also kind of drunk. It wouldn’t be done until 1 if I do it. What do you think?
okay, thanks everyone … i’m going to do it, i’ll be back a little later
Does anyone have a good yeast bread receipes with the starter and not in a machine????

I used to have a starter that you have to feed everyday and the when it was ready you could take some and make the bread and it was really great.
Do you like your bread machine? What brand/model is it?

I have a Breadman TR555LC, pan started oozing black gunk out the bottom (which I read on net happened to quite a few people), also leaked liquid ingredients, finally the whole bottom of the pan just broke off. I would buy a new pan, but Salton wants $40 for one, and a whole new machine is $60 at Tarje…
so: I’m not entirely convinced I want another Breadman–it worked fine, but I fear I would be tossing it in two years, like my current one. I want a good sturdy, reliable machine which will bake great bread and last me a long time. Tell me about yours!
Learning to use a bread machine?
Aug 29th
I ‘uncovered’ a bread machine that my mother gave me years ago. It was top of the line then, with several cycles and can make rice and even a roast. I don’t have the owner’s manual, but I’d like to start using it. Is anyone familiar with any sites that have basic instructions and recipes? I’d love to make some Christmas bread gifts for friends and co-workers! Thanks!
The first thing I did was look up the manufacturer, Aroma (this machine is a ABM 220), but they don’t have a website, just an address. If I don’t find anything online, I’ll snail mail them a letter, but I was hoping to use it this week.
I can’t find bread flour for my bread machine.?
Aug 29th
The manual to my bread machine says to use bread flour, but I have checked 3 grocery stores and no one has it. I know I can use all purpose but I don’t want bread to be heavy. I have also read that you can add gluten to it as well. The question I have is I did see flour that was ½ wheat and ½ white all purpose. Will this be lighter too? What about cake flour? I think I saw that. I don’t live in a remote area, it makes no sense that 3 major chain food stores would not have it.
I will most definitly look for the gluten. Also I will look for the “better for bread” flour by Gold Metal. When you say per batch when adding the gluten how much do you mean by a bacth?
I made bread in the bread machine, but it came out really dense/hard after I baked it…?

What did I do wrong? Give me a recipe that will come out nice and FLUFFY like bread is supposed to be! This is the second try with this machine and I am new to this, so maybe I did something wrong…..
I used a recipe from the book that came with the machine for basic white bread:
2/3 cup water
1 TBsp milk
2 cups bread flour
1 TBsp shortening
1/2 tsp salt
1 TBsp sugar
1 tsp active dry yeast
And the stupid book does not say whether you need to warm the water and milk first or not! I used butter because I didn’t have shortening. Somehow those ingredients don’t seem like enough to make anything. And come to think of it, it didn’t rise very much. So I will try some of your tips and see what happens again lol
I want to buy a new bread machine?
Aug 29th
I want to buy a new bread machine, but I don’t know which stores I should go to. I want it to be in the $50-$80 range, it doesn’t have to be fancy. I’d also like for it NOT to be a 2 lb bread machine. Just a 1 to 1.5 lb machine. The 2 lb ones are WAY too big for the space I have. I don’t like purchasing online, but if the website is able to ship it to a store so I can pick it up there (like Wal-mart’s “site to store”), that’s okay. Thanks!
