How do I keep the bananas in my banana bread from sinking to the bottom?
Apr 27th
Is my batter too thin?
Did I not mash them fine enough?
My recipe (if it helps)
4 large bananas – mashed
1 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
3/4 cups sugar (half light brown, half white)
1 egg
4 tablespoons applesauce
2 tablespoons milk (I added this because the batter was very flour-y still)
I mixed all those together, then poured in an 8 inch cast iron skillet and baked at 400 for 30 minutes. Came out really well, except most the banana pieces were in the bottom 1/2 inch of the bread.

What should I make for dinner – husband is bringing a friend home from work?
Apr 20th
Hello Everyone. I know this isn’t an “important” question, but I wanted some fresh ideas and thought this was a good avenue for that. I asked my husband to invite a coworker of his over for dinner one night this coming week because he is a bit down and out lately due to a family issue that has left him alone in the evenings when he expected to be with his older son. So Im trying to come up with a meal that is comforting and cozy but absolutely delicious. Other things to note, Im a very good cook, so nothing is out of the question. Im just looking for the perfect idea to run with. First I thought of a high quality beef stew (its cold here and it feels like a family style meal, which is the sense Im going for), or even Julia Child’s Bouf Bouginion (which Ive never made before, so…). Anyhow does anyone have a family favorite meal that would work for us in this instance, and if you have a recipe that is a slam dunk every time, Id love to see it. I cook so often I don’t have any “go to meals” that I use for company – most of our suppers are company quality. I want this to be special. The first time I met my future mother in law I made ceasar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, roasted red peppers, homemade crusty bread, and an antipasto platter to start. It was perfect for THAT…now Im looking for something equally perfect for this. Also, this isn’t his boss, so I don’t need to impress, just welcome and indulge in a good quality, well prepared, hot meal. I know this is just want he needs to cheer him up a little, I want to do it right and make it nice. Again, its just my husband, his male coworker, me and my 13 month old daughter (who eats anything). Men love meat and potatoes right? Also, lets say I go with the stew idea, any ideas for salads and sides? The only thing I think is…is beef stew nice enough for company or does it look sloppy? The other question regarding the stew is..my dad always served it over mashed potatoes and didn’t put pots in the stew itself. My mom always put cut up pots in the stew and cooked biscuits right in the stew pot for the last hour – both were great, maybe moms was a little better…?? Okay that’s all I need for now. Im always trying to do nice things for others, like I said, I know its not an important question but I really believe you can brighten someones day by inviting them over for dinner. This guy needs a bit of sunshine…if you have the perfect meal (starter, main, side(s), dessert), please help me make this special for everyone.
What to add to make low fat cornbread from a box mix?
Apr 20th
I have a box of corn bread mix. The instructions say to add 2/3 cups milk, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, and 1 egg. I was wondering if there were any low-fat substitutions I use to still make cornbread (for example, with cake mixes, you can just add soda to the mix, or using applesauce instead of oil). Any ideas? I was thinking about adding sweet potato, but I’m not sure how….
I am looking for a pumkin roll up bread with cream cheese and cool whip from a chef on the early show,?

Cutting Sugar and Bread from my diet?
Mar 28th
I saw this documentary on youtube called “sugar the bitter truth” and In the video he explains how horrible refined sugar is to the body and how it’s basically a poison So I researched it and found about how horrible sugar is to diet (I knew It was bad not to such an extent) and how it’s added to basically everything even things you wouldn’t consider sweet. I’ve been thinking about cutting out bread because I seriously don”t believe I need bread when I can get my carbs from many other places like fruits and beans also I know they consider bread a healthy food too but bread is basically man made from the plant wheat and turned into bread has anyone ever tried cutting out bread or sugar from their diet and If so what are your experiences?
Do you think I will lose weight doing this? from eating 3500 calories a day to eating 600?
Mar 28th
a) Make a tuna sandwhich with Dark rye Bread, mayonnaise and cheese
–> Eat half the sandwhich for breakfast (9:00 a.m.) 150 calories
–> Eat half the sandwhich for lunch (12:00 a.m.) 150 calories
b) Snack: Eat a banana (3:00 am.) 100 calories
c) Dinner: (6:00 p.m.)
Eat 2 cups of home made mashed potato with garlic and milk (150 calories)
d) Snack: Eat a tomato with sugar added to it (9:00 p.m.) 30 Calories
e) Decaf green tea (10:00 p.m.) 0 calories
(150 + 150 + 100 + 150 + 30 + 20 ) = 600 calories a day
I can’t explain why but I feel more full eating a 300 calorie tuna sandwich then I do going to a sushi buffet and taking 6 platefuls of food…
I feel more full eating a 300 calorie tuna sandwich then I do eating 2 bags of potato chips over the course of 3 hours… which is probably 3000 calories
Do you think I’d lose weight doing this? (From eating 3500 calories a day to eating this instead)?

I was thinking of starting my diet by going low carb for two weeks in order to decrease the size of my stomach so that I will feel full eating less food…
I can usually decrease my appetite and ability to gorge by up to 75% just by going on a low carb diet for 3 weeks… even though I only lose about 4 pounds of body fat… basically all the body fat that I lost was in my stomach…
I am also struggling with questions of how I can eat a low carb diet when I have 50 dollars to spread over 5 days…
