snack – 1 cup raisins
dinner – 1 serving dry fetticine pasta with garlic, 1 serving of salad no dressing with nuts and dried mango, 1 peice of italian bread

I’ve gained weight from quitting smoking, now it won’t come off! Help!?!?
May 10th
January 26 was D-day for me; I quit cold turkey. As expected, I gained about 15 pounds and I did not let it bother me at first. At this same time, I adopted healthier (believe it or not) eating habits of eating breakfast, usually no more than 2 cups of high fiber cereal or a piece of fruit on my way to work. Then for lunch, I will have whole wheat bread (or whole wheat tortilla) with mustard and one slice of cheddar cheese and an apple. Finally, for dinner, I will have either a large lettuce or baby spinach salad (whole dinner plate) with boiled egg or garbanzo beans as my protein. If we eat out, I still choose a salad with meat on it, because I know the meat portion will still not be over at least4 to 6 ozs. My “snacks” are usually dry roasted pumpkin seeds. I am still hanging right on 140, despite what I do. I am very frustrated, and my husband likes me at 125, so it is effecting our love life. The only thing I know to do is totally quit eating like I did to get to 125, before I tried to opt for a “healthier” approach to diet(ing). I do not consume any sugar (knowingly, anyway) and consciously choose whole wheat carbs or none at all. I am trying to eat my 5 a day of FRESH fruits and vegetables and try to limit meat and dairy consumption. I speed walk for 30 minutes to an hour (depending on weather) 4 or 5 times a week.
Any experiences or wisdom is VERY MUCH appreciated.
I am looking for some ” from scratch” recipes that I can modify and make my own.Where can I find them?
May 8th
I am looking for base( from scratch) recipes for the following: Quick Breads like- biscuits, muffins, gingerbread, cornbread, fruit bread, vegetable bread, Cakes like- layered, angel food, cup cakes, bundt cake, Pies like- apple, cherry, pumpkin, peach, pecan, any other fruit pie, Cookies like- chocolate chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, any other variety cookie, Fudge,Brittle. I would appreciate anything people would be willing to share. Since I am still developing my baking from scratch side of my cooking.
I do not appreciate smart mouth answers, I would prefer answers, from people that are willing to share their
“from scratch” recipes, that I could modify to make it my own unique take on that particular recipe.

Do “traditional” Thanksgiving dishes vary depending on which state you’re from?
May 4th
I grew up in Michigan, so for me, “traditional” Thanksgiving dishes are turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, candied yams, succotash (a casserole with corn and lima beans) corn bread or dinner rolls, fruit salad, and of course, pumpkin, cherry, and mincemeat pies. So, which state do you come from, and what are your favorite traditional T-day dishes?
I’m especially interested to know if folks in the coastal states serve any kind of fish – like lobster in Maine or pickled herring in Florida. Thanks for all of your answers so far!
Need help from people with experience in bake sales… 10 pts?
May 4th
I am making a huge bake sale, I am making banana split cheesecakes (in muffin tins), english toffee, pumpkin raisin/banana nut bread, mocha choco-chip banana muffins, dutch caramel apple pie, ginger snaps, and caramel filled chocolate cookies. I want to know in your personal opinion if those will sell well or which you think will be a huge seller…. would you buy any of those I listed and how much would you buy them for ( to give me a idea for pricing)
