Loading ...To make this sweet bread, can I get rid of the rum ingredient or substitute it?

8 cups flour
8 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
2 tbs. oil
2 cups milk
50 gr. yeast (2 pkgs)
1 tbs. salt
1 tbs. rum
vanilla extract
1 lemon scraped skin
Since it’s only 1 tbps, I thought that maybe just getting rid of it wouldn’t make too bad of a difference. I don’t have rum, (or can legally buy it) so my options are that or substituting it.
Also, can I substitute the lemon skin with orange skin?
